Mrs. Kegelman and Mrs. Durant's Reading Clubs

Last week ,Mrs. Kegelman's Reading Club read and summarized ,one of my favorite stories, When The Doorbell Rang by Pat Hutchins. Mrs. Kegelman gives Tyrese a great big Thumbs Up ! Tyrese took When The Doorbell Rang Home, read it to his mom and added it to his Reading Log. Way to Go,Tyrese!
This week, Farid, Isaiah and Tyrese read a great story, How The Chick Tricked The Fox. Yes! You read it right; a small little chick tricks the sly fox! How? Ask the boys when you see them. They will tell you how it all happened. Way to Go Boys!
Mrs. Durant's Reading Club is reading a fun story, Tie Dye. Can you make a prediction on what the story is about by the title? Make your prediction and tell someone in Mrs. Durant's Reading Club. They will tell you if your prediction was correct! Great Job, Mrs. Durants's Reading Club!
If you are interested in reading either of the books, stop by Room 5 and ask Mrs. Kegelman or Mrs. Durant.

The "Green Thumbs" of Room 6 !

On Friday, April 11, we planted sunflower, pumpkin, pea and bean seeds.
First, we put soil into our cups. We only filled our cups half-way with soil. Next, we put two seeds into the soil. Then ,we covered the seeds with more soil. Last,we added a little water to our soil and placed them on the windowsill.
With air, sunlight and water our seeds will begin to sprout! We will keep you posted on the growth of our plants!

Frog and Toad All Year by Arnold Lobel

This week we will be reading Frog and Toad All Year. It's a story about two best friends, Frog and Toad. Frog tells his friend Toad a story about how he learned when Spring is coming. We can't tell you the signs of Spring that Frog tells Toad about; you'll have to read our story to find out!

Vocabulary: working, caught, son, near, cold

Reading Comprehension Skill: This week we will be working on Making and Confirming Predictions. We make predictions by what we know about the story, what we read in the story, or something that happened in our lives that we can relate to the story. If we find clues while we are reading, we can always change our prediction. At the end of the story, we all discuss if our predictions were right.
